In our way – A Film by Israel Sci-Tech Rabin Students Places 3rd at the Film and Human Rights Festival
The Solidarity Film and Human Rights Festival is a unique event that raises major socio-political issues for public discourse in Israel through the screening of groundbreaking films on human rights from Israel and around the world, which seek to promote peace, democracy, and human rights. The festival has been held annually since 2011 at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque and includes a competition for youth submissions, with the participation of dozens of films from all media, multimedia, and cinema in the country.
This year’s competition was held at the Cinematheque in the presence of European Union representatives. Out of dozens of works, eight films, including the film “In Our Way” by Sci-Tech Rabin students in Gan Yavne, were recognized. The film, made by students Gal Shamir, Idan Harush, Elad Abutbul, and Bar Maimoni, won the prestigious third prize. The film focuses on the director of the film, Gal Shamir, who is autistic, and his struggle not to be treated as such, especially in preparation for enlistment in the IDF at the same age as his peers.
