36 Junior-high students at Sci-Tech Yonatan in Kiryat Motzkin arrived with their parents for the 6th graduation ceremony of the Joel Project – A joint project for the Sci-Tech school and Rafael aimed to encourage technological curiosity in teenagers.
Rafael (Advanced Defense Systems) has been in close cooperation with the Sci-Tech school network for over a decade.
Every year a group of students is chosen to join up with a team of Rafael employees in an attempt to find scientific solutions for various sustainability and environmental problems. Over a period of two years, the students meet weekly with their company counterparts, introduced to advanced technologies and methods used by the defense industry and meet renowned researchers in their relevant fields. Throughout the year Rafael employees mentor the students in their spare time completely voluntarily.
The recent cooperation between junior-high students at Sci-Tech Yonatan in Kiryat Motzkin and Rafael employees focused on agricultural irrigation leaks and engineering solutions that can be utilized to seal cracks and holes in pipes, a common problem in agriculture, resulting in a significant waste of water and other valuable resources.
